THEY say your school days are the best days of your life, and they are probably not wrong.
The long summer holidays, the friendships you thought would last forever, and no bills or significant others to worry about ... if you don't count your crush on that lad sat behind you in maths.
But perhaps the greatest thing about being a teenager is the discovery of music.
Cheesy pop, punk or good old fashioned rock and roll – we all remember the soundtrack of our teens.
If reading this is making you all rosy and nostalgic, then the Retro Decades weekends in Lancaster's Williamson Park this summer are definitely for you.
Brainchild of Morecambe company Kalimba, each weekend in turn will cover music of the 1950s through to the 1990s.
Organiser Steve Middlesbrough explains: "When people talk about music they often say this was the best decade, that was the best decade. The thing is, they are all right.
"The best decade for you will be the one when you were a teenager. At that age you discover music properly for the first time and think you're the first one to do it.
"The Retro Decades events are for families. We're hoping granddads and dads will bring the families and the young ones down and have a great time listening to the music. It should spark some great conversations and debates.
"We are asking people to come and listen to the soundtrack of their lives and enjoy themselves."
Kalimba already run various decade-themed nights throughout the district – Club Tropicana at Ma Murphy's in Morecambe, 90s nights at Lancaster's LAOne – and they also run successful, established events such as Lancaster Soul which takes place at the Gregson Centre and Williamson Park each summer.
However this is the first time they have staged the succession of events themed around favourite decades of the past.
Retro Decades kicks off this Sunday with the 50s Juke Box Jive event. The Fab 60s will follow on July 20, We Luv the 70s takes place on August 10 and Club Tropicana 80s is staged on August 24.
The summer is rounded off with the Sorted 90s event on September 7.
These five family fun days will feature DJs, singers, food and drink and quizzes and prizes.
Each event will take place by the lake in Williamson Park between 12-5pm, and admission is completely free.
