LANCASTER left Lune Road disgruntled again after a drilling from Cumbrian side Kendal.

Captain David Heywood chose to bat first having won the toss.
After an early setback, Michael Stevens edging behind for five, Ryan Nelson (13) and Tim Barry (32) knuckled down.

It was the introduction of spin in former Lancaster player Ben Simm that drew the edge of Nelson's bat, from which point Lancaster lost another three wickets for ten runs, collapsing to 70-6.

Kendal's bowlers restricted well, with professional and league leading wicket-taker Ross Macmillan (1-24) beating the bat regularly.

Regular campaigners Kevin Howarth and Stuart Parkin both took 3-44 tearing through Lancaster's middle and late order.

David Heywood (27) and Brendan Hetherington (22) saved an early collapse taking the score to 125.

14 year-old Charlie Swarbrick (nine not out) and Danny Milligan (seven not out) played out the remaining overs, taking Lancaster's total to 140.

Lancaster took the field opening with Milligan and professional Wassem Khan looking for early breakthroughs. It came in the form of Ikram Ullah (five) who cut to point, Michael Walling taking a smart catch.

Khan (1-55) dismissed Howarth, but Kendal were scoring freely and found themselves 90-2 after 15 overs.

Terry Hunte (40) rode his luck but when he was run out by David Heywood, only 30 runs were required.

Macmillan (34 not out) and Oliver Killiner (28 not out) steered Kendal home, reaching Lancaster's total with 26.1 overs remaining.

n LANCASTER'S 2nd came away from Shap Road with a winning draw.

Lancaster had posted 146 thanks to Scott Sparks' 44. Liam Moffat took 4-27 to reduce Kendal to 70-4 when play stopped for rain.

* LANCASTER player Danny Milligan was 12th man for Lancashire 2nd team in their game at Hinckley CC against Leicestershire last Thursday.

Milligan had been due to play but Oliver Newby was not required for first team duty.
