The chairman of Lancashire County Council, County Coun Michael Devaney, paid tribute to volunteers from Lancashire Wildlife Trust and the RSPB at a County Hall reception.

More than 30 volunteers from the trust’s Brockholes, Mere Sands Wood, Wigan and Summerseat reserves joined RSPB volunteers from Leighton Moss reserve and the Ribble Valley Discovery Centre.

County Coun Devaney said it was important to recognise the massive contribution by volunteers throughout Lancashire and the North West. The volunteers heard speeches in the county council chamber, before being treated to a buffet dinner accompanied by a jazz band.
