From rugged coastlines to expansive parks, architecture and history to surging rivers and quiet streams, there's plenty to see and do outdoors in the Lancaster district...
1. The River Lune
There are miles of walks along the beautiful River Lune. Join the Millennium Path at Lancaster, Halton or Caton or further up the Lune Valley, or have a walk through Freemans Wood from St George's Quay. The path is currently closed between Lancaster and Halton.
2. Heysham Head
Viking graves, historic ruins and windswept bays give Heysham Head its own unique character. Plenty of space here for the kids to let off steam.
3. Lancaster city centre
There's loads to explore in Lancaster city centre. Lancaster Castle, St George's Quay, Georgian architecture, snickets, lanes and quiet squares combine to create an interesting urban adventure.
4. Williamson Park
Dominated by the Ashton Memorial, Williamson Park provides a great space for walkers and runners alike. Smaller pathways through the woods link up a great network of walks within the 53 acre park.
