This week we report on feedback we received to several old photos we printed for the first time in January.
Dallas Road School, 1955
Steve Thornton of Bolton-le-Sands recognised himself in this Dallas Road School photo from 1955.
Steve writes: "I am on the second row first on the left, my name is Stephen Thornton formerly of 10, Meadow Street, Marsh, Lancaster.
"I do recognise, front row, third from the left Cath Eason, and also front row sixth from the left Miss Ratallick, as for the rest of them I know the faces but cannot remember the names.
"I worked at Joseph Storey Chemical Works, Moor Lane, Lancaster, also Earnshaws Furniture Store, Great John Street, Lancaster, then 28 years on the Lancashire Ambulance Service based at Lancaster station. Time does fly by, many thanks."
Dallas Road Secondary Modern School
Gordon Holding emailed all the way from Australia after his cousin, Pam Armstrong of Bentham, sent him a cutting of the old Marsh School photo we featured.
She thought he would be interested as he attended that school though not in that era. Gordon went on to Dallas Road Secondary Modern and also studied and later taught at the College of Further Education and was also a local councillor for a couple of years in the early 1970s on the old city council before re-organisation.
Gordon sent over this photograph of the prefects from Dallas Road in about 1962.
Marsh school, 1927/28
Graham Dugdale who writes our popular weekly walks feature responded to this old photo of Marsh School from 1927/8.
His father-in-law is seated on the front row second from the left and his name is John W Dobson.
Sulyard Street Scouts, 1922
Maureen France of Quernmore recognised her late father Reg Riley on this picture of Scouts. He can be seen sitting at the back of the lorry.
Maureen writes: "He often went camping with Sulyard Street Scouts, and subsequently became Scoutmaster and Rover Scoutmaster.
He took his "lads", including his brother Harold, all over the North West and Wales camping and walking.
They even went to Prague before World War Two.
Reg was at the first World Jamboree at Arrow Park and met Lord Baden Powell and the then Prince of Wales. He had many a story to tell. Thank you so much for printing the photo and bringing back memories of my father!"
